I have an OfficeJet 8610 and I am getting an 'Incompatible Ink' error. I have a full set of genuine Z10 cartridges (CN045AN), but my printer was previously Z20. The website does not recognize my serial number, so I cannot start a case. Please help me with the regionalization reset.

I think you bought a printer designed for another region.

I notified the moderator of the problem.
Changing the region code can be difficult as described here.

When an agent contacts you ensure that the agent is familiar with the OS you are using. If the agent is in a different time zone try to get one in your time zone. If that is not possible you may need to choose the best time to make a contact.

You may need WhatsApp to work through the region reset procedure.

1. The printer should be connected using a printer USB cable to the computer.
2. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.
3. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region/country from where the printer was purchased originally or the new region/country to which you want to reset it to.
4. The cartridges must be genuine HP.
5. Make sure HP Smart App is installed.
6. If the printer is not under warranty, then the ink cartridges need to be in the warranty period.

The printer was originally US (Z10), was reset to Z20 while I was overseas in 2022, and now that I am back in the US, I need to reset it back to Z10

FYI:  You can typically reset an HP printer's region code a maximum of three times. After the third change, the region is permanently locked and cannot be modified again.  (I am just the messenger of this bad news)

Hi @RegionMismatchB

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

If the printer will be used in a different region from where it was originally bought and used, we need to perform some changes called a regional reset for your printer; only after that will you be able to use the printer with the current region's ink cartridges.

I will be glad to assist you with the regional reset on your printer.

In order for me to perform the reset, I need few details which cannot  be shared in public.

I'm sending you a private message to guide you on the next steps.

To access it, click the private message icon in the upper-right corner of your HP Support Community profile, next to your name.

Take care and have a great day!
