HP OfficeJet Pro 9720e Wide Format All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I need assistance with a regionalization reset for my HP OfficeJet Pro 9720e.

The printer is currently configured for Spain/Europe and uses HP 937 cartridges. It will now be used permanently in Paraguay, where HP 938 cartridges are sold for this model. Therefore, I need HP to change the printer’s supply region from Spain/Europe to Paraguay.

This would be the first regionalization reset performed on the printer. I previously contacted HP Support and a live agent started helping me, but the procedure could not be completed because I was using a corporate computer and could not authorize remote access. I now need to resume the process from a personal computer connected to the printer.

An existing support case was created: 5163****97. I can provide the complete case number, serial number, and product information privately to a verified HP employee.

Could an HP representative please help me resume or escalate this case and connect me with a live technical support agent who has access to the regionalization tools?

Thank you.

Hi @ChapaxD

To change the region, you need to contact HP in the region of origin with the printer's details.

They will provide you with the procedures for making the change for the corresponding country.

Best regards

Hi @ChapaxD,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you, please note that HP Printers use different ink cartridges in different region and to use the ink cartridges sold in the current region, we need to change the region settings on the printer.

I request that you please get back to me with the following information so that I can help you change the region settings on the printer.

Do you still have the ink cartridges for both regions

Do you have a printer USB cable?

Which OS is on the PC? Is it Windows or Mac?

Do you have the printer full feature software and drivers installed on your PC?

Hope this helps!

Take care and have an amazing day!

Hello VikramTheGreat, thank you for your help.

Here is the requested information:

  1. I currently have only the original HP 937 cartridges.

  2. Yes, I have a USB printer cable.

  3. I will use a Windows personal computer.

  4. The full HP printer software and drivers are installed on the computer.

Before purchasing new cartridges, could you please confirm that the correct cartridges for an HP OfficeJet Pro 9720e regionalized for permanent use in Paraguay are the HP 938 cartridges?

If HP 938 is correct, do I need to purchase the complete set of four original HP 938 cartridges before we can begin the regionalization process?

Thank you.

Hi @ChapaxD,

Thank you for providing all the requested information. Having the USB printer cable, a Windows PC, and the complete HP printer software and drivers installed means you have the necessary setup on the computer side.

Yes, for an HP OfficeJet Pro 9720e regionalized for permanent use in Paraguay, HP 938 cartridges are the correct cartridge series for the Paraguay region.

You will need to have the complete set of four genuine HP 938 cartridges (Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow) available before proceeding. The regionalization process requires the full set of cartridges for the target region; having only some of the cartridges will not allow the regional reset to be completed.

One important point before you purchase them: have you already attempted the regionalization/reset process with the printer? Please let us know whether any regional reset has already been performed or attempted.

We need to confirm this first because the regionalization procedure can only be attempted once, so we want to make sure the printer and the complete set of correct regional cartridges are ready before proceeding.

Hello VikramTheGreat,

Thank you for confirming that the complete set of genuine HP 938 cartridges is correct for my HP OfficeJet Pro 9720e in Paraguay.

No regionalization reset has ever been performed or attempted on this printer. I previously contacted HP Support, and an agent offered to connect remotely to my computer, but the remote connection was never started and no regionalization steps or changes were made to the printer.

I will purchase the complete set of four genuine HP 938 cartridges: Black, Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow. I will not install them or attempt any reset by myself.

Once I have all four cartridges, should I reply here so that you can provide the next steps or connect me with the appropriate HP agent to perform the regionalization?

Thank you.

Hi @ChapaxD,

Thank you for getting back and letting me know

Step 2:

1) Launch the printer software from the desktop icon or, from the Start menu, click Start, All Programs, HP, the Product Name, and then the Product Name again.

2) Double-click the Estimated Ink Levels icon in the printer software. The Estimated Ink Levels window opens.

3) Press and hold the CTRL and SHIFT keys, and then right-click anywhere in the Estimated Ink Levels window, except for a button. The Set New Region window opens.

4) If the Set New Region window fails to open, right-click to the right and left of the Estimated Ink Levels window.

5) Take a screenshot of the screen and send it to me in Private.
