HP OfficeJet 5740 e-All-in-One Printer

I purchased an HP original 62 ink cartridge, with an expiration of 07/2023.  An error occurred immediately when the cartridge was installed.  After spending much time troubleshooting, including removing and reinstalling the ink cartridge, and turning the printer on and off, and unplugging the printer, I determined that the cartridge must be defective.  I tried to return or exchange the cartridge with the retailer, (Fred Meyer), they refused to help.  I went to a different retailer and purchased a new 62XL ink cartridge.

I would like to return the defective ink cartridge to HP and receive a refund or an exchange.  Thank you.
