Recently I bought both the black and white and the tri-colour remanufactured ink cartridges for my printer, its the right cartridge series and it says on the actual ink cartridge that the printer may read that its empty even when its full and that's exactly what's happening. My printers ink symbols are flashing and it's coming up with an E on the printer screen. The alignment printing page will print out just fine with both new cartridges but then when I go to print something of my own it says empty and won't print. Is there any way to get them to work?

Hi @LW102,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It seems like you are experiencing issues with remanufactured ink cartridges in your HP printer. This is a common problem, and there are a few steps you can take to try to resolve the issue:

Printer Reset: Try resetting your printer. Turn it off, unplug it from the power source, wait for a minute, and then plug it back in and turn it on.

Check Cartridge Compatibility: Ensure that the remanufactured cartridges are compatible with your specific printer model. Sometimes, even if the series is correct, the cartridges might not be fully compatible in terms of chip or design.

Clean the Contacts: Remove the cartridges and gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges as well as on the printer with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water. Make sure everything is dry before reinserting them.

Reinstall the Cartridges: Remove and reinstall the cartridges to ensure they are seated properly. Sometimes, refitting them helps establish a better connection.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges: While remanufactured cartridges are a cost-effective solution, they can sometimes cause compatibility or reliability issues. It's recommended to use genuine HP cartridges, which can help avoid these problems and ensure the printer reads the ink levels correctly.

Ignore the Ink Levels Warning: If the printer works without issues other than the warning about ink levels, you can often ignore the error. Print a test page to see the print quality and functionality.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

Thank you but unfortunately I tried all your recommended solutions and none were successful. My perfect solution would be if there was a way to override the printer and tell it to just print my page even if it thinks its empty but I can't seem to find any way to do that. It does say on the side of the ink cartridge to press

"ok" when it says empty but, again, there's no option to do that. The only new thing I did find was the hp app saying "Non-HP Circuitry" which i'm assuming means there's no way for these cartridges to work, which means I wasted my money on non usable ink, which then also means im off to buy a new printer as it's stupid that they're even allowed to do this.

But thank you so much for your help anyway ❤️

HI @LW102,

Thank you for your response.

I hear your frustration—it’s tough when the printer refuses to play along. Thank you for sharing your experience, and I’m glad you kept the pages turning with a new plan.
