Cartridge problem message reads:
- "Remove and reinstall the indicated ink cartridge"
I am using a new HP cartridge on my HP Envy 5660 & keep getting the above message, even after turning printer off & unplugging it, then restarting. Do I need to update software, or ?

Hi @Maxie09
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you're encountering an issue with your HP Envy 5660 printer where it continuously shows a message to remove and reinstall the ink cartridge, even after you've replaced it with a new one. This can be frustrating, but there are a few things we can try to resolve it:
1. Double-Check the Cartridge Installation
Ensure the ink cartridge is seated properly in the printer. Sometimes the cartridge may not click into place fully, even though it seems to be inserted.
- Steps to check the cartridge:
- Open the cartridge door of the printer.
- Remove the ink cartridge that is showing the error message.
- Carefully check for any protective tape or plastic pieces that might still be on the cartridge.
- Reinsert the cartridge and ensure it clicks into place securely.
- Close the cartridge door and check if the error message goes away.
2. Check for Cartridge Compatibility
Make sure the ink cartridge you're using is compatible with your printer model (HP Envy 5660). Even though it’s a new HP cartridge, using the wrong type could lead to errors.
- Steps:
- Verify that you’re using a genuine HP cartridge designed for the HP Envy 5660.
- Cross-check the cartridge number (e.g., HP 65 or HP 65XL cartridges) with the one recommended for your printer.
- If you're using a third-party or refilled cartridge, that might be causing the issue, as they can sometimes trigger errors in HP printers.

I hope this helps.
