I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Printer that displayed a Malfunctioning Printer head message.  So, I went ahead and ordered a new OEM Printer Head for said printer and installed it once I received it.  That should have fixed the problem but alas the problem still persists and I have the same error code with a Brand New Printer Head installed.  I have repeated the process 3 times to ensure that it is installed correctly and installed the new Firmware but still no joy.  Any help with this situation?

Hi @RachaelPlus4,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP Officejet Pro 8600 printer despite replacing the printer head. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem.

  • Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 10-15 seconds. Plug it back in and turn it on. Check if the error persists.
  • Check for Updates: Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Visit the official HP website, enter your printer model, and download the latest firmware update. Install it on your printer.
  • Clean the Printhead Contacts: Make sure the contacts on both the printhead and the printer are clean. Use a lint-free cloth and isopropyl alcohol to gently clean the contacts. Be careful not to touch the nozzles.
  • Perform Printhead Alignment: Most printers have an option for printhead alignment. Check your printer's manual on how to perform this procedure. It helps ensure that the printhead is aligned correctly.
  • Check for Paper Jams: Even if the error message doesn't explicitly mention it, check for any paper jams or obstructions inside the printer. Clear any jams if found.

Remember to keep the documentation that came with your printer, as it may contain additional information about the error codes and troubleshooting steps.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
