HP DeskJet 3755 All-in-One Printer

We replaced both our color and black ink cartridges in our deskjet 3755 printer and now our black ink won't print. I've done the cleaning (including 2nd level cleaning), turn off/unplug/restart of both printer and computer, alignment and still nothing. There's definitely ink in it based on weight and when I moistened a tissue was able to extract black ink from the cartridge itself. It's just not getting onto the paper. Could the ink be too old? It was sent by instant ink a while back. Expiration date on the cartridge says 02/20/2025. Should I ask for a new black ink cartridge?

Hi @JWHITTEMORE,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand the issue you're describing could indeed be caused by a defective or expired ink cartridge, but let's troubleshoot further to confirm. Here's a step-by-step guide:

Steps to Troubleshoot:

Check Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure the black ink cartridge is securely seated in its slot.
  • Remove and reinsert it to confirm proper contact with the printer.

Inspect Cartridge and Contacts:

  • Gently clean the gold contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water or isopropyl alcohol.
  • Ensure the area is dry before reinserting the cartridge.

Run Another Cleaning Cycle:

  • Go to the printer’s software and run a cleaning cycle one more time. Avoid excessive cleaning cycles to prevent wasting ink.

Print a Test Page:

  • Check if the black ink appears on a test page. If the problem persists, proceed to the next steps.

Update Printer Firmware: Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Sometimes, outdated firmware can cause issues. Update the printer firmware through the HP Smart app or the HP website.

Try Another Black Cartridge:

Even if the expiration date is valid, the cartridge could be defective. If you have a spare or older cartridge, try using it to see if the issue persists.

I understand you are facing an Instant Ink issue with your HP Printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
