@SJ2025, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Experiencing a supply system problem or seeing a cartridge marked as empty even after installing new genuine cartridges can be frustrating. This often indicates a communication or sensor issue rather than a problem with the ink itself. Here are some steps to help you resolve this issue:
Power Reset the Printer
- Ensure the printer is turned on.
- Unplug the power cord from the back of the printer while it remains on.
- Wait for at least 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back in and allow the printer to restart.
Clean the Cartridge Contacts
Sometimes, even new cartridges can have debris or manufacturing residue that disrupts the connection.
- Turn off the printer.
- Remove the cartridge that is causing the issue.
- Use a lint-free cloth or coffee filter slightly moistened with distilled water.
- Carefully wipe the gold/copper electrical contacts on both the cartridge and the corresponding contacts in the printer.
- Allow it to dry for a minute before reinserting the cartridge.
Check for Protective Tape
Ensure that you have removed any orange pull-tabs or protective plastic tape from the cartridges, particularly from the vent area and electrical contacts.
Use HP Printer Tools (Optional but Useful)
If you have the HP Smart App (available on Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android), open it to:
- Check for firmware updates.
- Run diagnostic tools available in the app.
Firmware Update
A mismatch between cartridge chips and printer firmware can lead to errors.
- Visit the HP Support site and locate your printer model.
- Download and install any available firmware updates.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
