My HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e indicates the black ink cartridge is depleted.  I have inserted 2 new HP black cartridges and am getting a message "Depleted cartridges must be replaced to resume printing. If you have an HP+ printer, it requires Original HP cartridges".  How do I get my printer printing again.

Hi @Jeanna400,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 9015e is not recognizing the replacement black ink cartridges. Here are several steps you can try to resolve the issue.

Check Cartridge Compatibility:

  • Ensure that the cartridges you inserted are genuine HP cartridges, as the printer requires HP original cartridges if it's an HP+ printer.
  • Verify that the cartridge model is compatible with your printer.

Reinstall the Cartridges:

  • Remove the new black ink cartridges and carefully reinstall them, making sure they are seated properly. Sometimes, the cartridge may not make full contact with the printer's sensors.

Clean the Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Remove the ink cartridges and use a lint-free cloth to gently clean the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer where the cartridge connects. Any dirt or residue could interfere with the connection.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source for at least 30 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on. This can help reset the system and recognize the new cartridges.

Check Printer Settings:

  • If you're using an HP+ printer, you may need to make sure that the printer is registered correctly with your HP account.
  • Ensure that your printer is connected to WiFi if necessary for cartridge validation.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Check for any firmware updates for your printer through the HP Smart app or the printer's web interface. Sometimes, an outdated firmware version can cause compatibility issues with cartridges.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
