I originally posted a request on 23rd Aug.2021 for help with bypass instructions as my Officejet Pro 8024 was a display model   ( unused) and did not come with setup cartridges.

I have had may views but no replies. Is there anyone who can help me?Please!

As I understand, you're getting an error message while using set up cartridges in your printer. 

 

No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:

 

Have you tried regular ink cartridges? 

 

Step 1: Make sure the ink cartridges are compatible

Step 2: Make sure the ink cartridges are correctly installed

Step 3: Clean the electrical contacts

Step 4: Reset the printer

Step 5: Clean the ink cartridge contacts again

I am using genuine HP cartridges, properly installed.

The printer screen shows " Use SETUP cartridges that came with your printer".

You suggested that I do a reset. How do I do this if the screen shows  this message?

HP is virtually useless when it comes to the starter cartridge issue.  I just bought a new 7855 through Amazon.  Not surprisingly, it did not contain starter cartridges - a review of the numerous complaints on this issue indicates HP intentionally does this.  I thought buying new HP ink cartridges through Office Depot would cure problem but I got Error message that said install the starter ink cartridges that DID NOT come with printer.   There are various work arounds I have seen proposed but they involve using command keys on front of printer like CANCEL and HOME that don't seem to actually exist.  I tried accessing HP chat about this and got ERROR message - no one there. 

 

I am stuck - I just paid over $250 for a printer that won't set up because HP didn't include the starter cartridges.   Maybe i will sue them and hopefully get a judge who got this kind of treatment.

If you cannot see the Home , etc icons on the touch screen of your printer, shine the torch from your mobile phone on the touch screen. The icons should then be visible.
