HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I have issues requesting regionalization reset for my HP OfficeJet 3830. The printer was purchased in US and now I want to use it in the Czech Republic. Following my other conversation on this forum I wanted to contact US HP Support (reflecting that the regionalization of the equipment is done based on its country of origin). The issue was that the HP Product and Technical Support site is not providing me with any phone number to call after selecting my product with expired warranty. I have seen others receiving the reset code after posting and sending private message to tech on this forum. Could any of the techs provide me with the US HP Printer Support phone number or assist here with resetting the region? Thank you in advance.

No HP technician there to help or to give an advice? If needed, I don't mind calling US HP Support Line for Regionalization Reset assistance if I had the phone number. I have tried the following guidance from another thread without success.

1 - Click on this link - https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true

2 - Select the country.

3 - Enter the serial of your device.

4 - Select the country from the drop-down.

5 - Click on "Show Options".

6 - Fill the web-form.

7 - A case number and phone number will now populate for you.

Please help me to perform the Regionalization Reset as disposing a printer in good shape is against a common sense.

Thank you in advance.

Hi @JoeWar_CZ,

Welcome to the HP Support.

I will be more than happy to help you out here.

To perform a printer region reset you need to meet the following conditions:

1. You need to have the printer full feature software installed on your computer.

2. You need to have all the cartridges either from the region/country from where the printer was purchased originally or the new region/country to which you want to reset it to.

3. Make sure HP Smart App is installed too.

Do keep me posted.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden4,

Thank you for your feedback, which is very appreciated. I believe I have met all the conditions listed. In addition to that, I also have the screenshot of the Regionalization Reset window from HP Smart app ready to send via private message once possible. Currently installed cartridges are 63XL from the region from where the printer was purchased originally and I want to reset it to 302XL for use in the Czech Republic.

Thank you in advance.

Hi @JoeWar_CZ,

Thank you for your response,

Thank you for your response,

Connect the printer via USB (usually you need it in case your internet connection is not strong or may have downtime while performing it. You can skip it and perform the process under wifi as well)

Launch HP Smart and click the product ink levels to open the Supported Cartridges window.

Clicking ink levels in HP Smart

Hold down the CTRL and SHIFT keys (Cmd + Space in MAC) and then right-click on the empty area to the right of the ink levels.

Clicking to the right of the ink levels

The Set New Regions window opens.

please share screenshot of this window to me on a private message link

Use the "Copy to Clipboard" feature to paste the values here.

Hi Alden4,

I have the information from the Set New Regions window. Unfortunately, the private message link from your message gives me an error saying „You do not have sufficient privileges for this resource or its parent to perform this action“.

Also, the right-click next to ink levels didn’t work for me to get the Set New Regions window. Instead, I had to go through the Settings icon, then click on About, and do ctrl+shift+right-click on HP Smart icon.

Could you make my account capable of sending private messages?

Thanks

Hello to everyone,

This is a follow up on the subject discussed above for those who are facing the same issue or have a functioning solution to share.

I was able to receive the Reset Code from HP Technician via PM and could then proceed with the Regionalization Reset. The Technician advised to install the cartridges for the new region before performing the reset. Unfortunately, my first attempt ended up with an error message saying that the printer refused the request for region reset. The Tech’s advice was to call support line.

As the printer was connected via Wi-Fi during my first attempt, I tried to perform the reset again with the printer connect via USB. First, I had to reinitialize the printer within HP Smart App. This made the trick, and the printer reported that the “Device region reset succeeded”. Unfortunately, this had no effect on accepting the cartridges HP 302 for the new region as the printer has continued to accept only the old cartridges HP 63 from the original region. I tried to perform the reset again but with the same result.

According to my knowledge, the Regionalization Reset could be performed only three times per printer. As I have likely the last attempt left, I’m considering performing the reset with old cartridges installed during the process.

Could anybody confirm what the right step-by-step process is to achieve a successful Regionalization Reset?

Thank you in advance.
