I lost the ability of my OfficejetPro 6975 to use remanufactured ink cartridges. It is my understanding that this practice is not acceptable and blocking these cartridges is not ethical at best. If HP is going to continue this practice, I wil find a printer that will use the products. I can't afford HP cartridges.

Hi @robandsam,
Welcome to the HP Support Community
I understand you are facing an ink cartridge compatibility issue with your HP OfficejetPro 6975 printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.
Update the printer firmware:
- Download available firmware updates from the HP website
- With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer.
- Look for and install any available firmware updates.
- Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
The third-party ink cartridges will work. But there are many cartridges in the market which is refilled and sometimes the chip is not configured to work with the printer. You need to contact the cartridge manufacturer and find out why it's not working. Try a different cartridge supplier and check if that works.
I hope that answers your concern adequately. Let me know!
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
