Do I have to buy extra stuff? How hard is it? Is it even worth while fooling with is printer too old? I’m doing this to print out line drawings to engrave onto my knives so I’m resizing a lot then wanting to print it out probably only gonna use black ink domt think I need color.

Hi @Knife-guy, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Your HP ENVY 6052 should work just fine with your iPhone 11 for printing black-and-white line drawings, and you don't need to buy extra stuff unless you're low on ink or need special paper. Here’s what you need to know:

1. Compatibility & Setup

  • Your printer supports Apple AirPrint, so you can print directly from your iPhone without needing extra apps.
  • Just make sure the printer and iPhone are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
  • If you prefer using an app, HP Smart (available on the App Store) gives more control over print quality and settings.

2. Print Quality & Black Ink Usage

  • Since you're printing line drawings, you can set the printer to use black ink only in the settings.
  • To make sure your prints are crisp for engraving, adjust the print quality to "Best" in the HP Smart app or AirPrint settings.
  • Use matte paper or high-quality inkjet paper to get better contrast.

3. Is It Worth It?

  • If your printer is in good working condition, it should be more than enough for resizing and printing outlines for engraving.
  • If you’re resizing often, you might want to do that on your iPhone using an app (like Canva, Adobe Express, or even the built-in Photos crop tool) before sending it to print.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
