I have the same problem, my printer will not accept my brand new in the box ink cartridges that were bought with the printer & are factory compatible cartridges, they are just expired but I hear fresh ink inside the cartridge. All I get is a  message that says they are older generation cartridges and not compatible with my printer...WHAT??? They are exactly the same model cartridges that came with the printer, brand new, completely filled with ink and are useless! HP lost another customer of over 20 years, I'm throwing this printer in the garbage and purchasing another printer, that will definitely not be HP nor any other products I need in the future.
