Refill Ink cartridges are not working. Used Inkjet 31/32 Ink Bottle Set. Bottles are compatible, but the tanks will not allow the new ink into the tank. Any suggestions please?

Hi @SteveMD2, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Smart Tank 6001 is not accepting the Inkjet 31/32 ink bottles, follow these troubleshooting steps:
1. Check Bottle Compatibility
- Ensure that the HP Ink 31 (CMY) and Ink 32 (black) bottles are genuine HP products.
- Verify the bottles are not damaged or tampered with.
2. Proper Bottle Positioning
- Shake the bottles gently before use.
- Make sure the bottle nozzle is aligned correctly with the ink tank inlet.
- Do not squeeze the bottle—HP ink bottles are designed to flow automatically when inserted properly.
3. Inspect the Ink Tank
- Check if old ink residue is clogging the refill opening.
- Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the ink inlet if needed.
4. Check for Airlocks
If the ink is not flowing into the tank, there might be an air bubble or vacuum lock:
- Try tilting the bottle slightly while refilling.
- Remove the bottle, gently tap the ink tank, and reinsert the bottle.
- Wait for a few minutes to allow ink to flow.
5. Perform a Hard Reset
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from power.
- Wait 2-3 minutes to allow the printer to reset.
- Plug the printer back in and power it on.
- Try refilling again.
6. Update Firmware
- Go to HP Support → Drivers & Firmware and check if an update is available.
- Firmware updates sometimes fix ink detection issues.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
