@Sara2222, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Resolving SETUP Cartridge Issues on HP ENVY Inspire 7900 Series Printers!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If your HP ENVY Inspire 7900 series printer is not completing the setup due to communication issues with the black setup cartridge, here are the steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and then unplug the power cord.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.
Clean the Cartridges:
- Open the front door of the printer.
- Lift the cartridge access door and wait until the carriage moves to the center.
- Remove the black setup cartridge.
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth to gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridge and inside the carriage.
- Reinsert the setup cartridge firmly into the slot until it clicks into place.
- Lower the cartridge access door and close the front door.
Check for Proper Cartridge Installation:
- Ensure that the setup cartridges are correctly placed in their respective slots. The cartridges should snap into place securely.
- The setup cartridges should be used only during the initial setup of the printer. If you have used regular cartridges, replace them with the setup cartridges that came with the printer.
Replace with Genuine HP Cartridges:
- If cleaning does not resolve the issue, try replacing the black setup cartridge with another genuine HP cartridge labeled as SETUP.
- Do not use regular or non-HP cartridges during the initial setup phase.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!
