I am getting shadows on my printing.  I have done the uninstall, reinstall, clean printer heads, new drivers, new cartridges, etc.  It persists.  After reading a few threads, this started after a windows 10 update & a "blue screen".

Can you help?

I have read all the other threads on this same issue and done all the proposed fixes.  It appears this is a Windows issue. However, my IT guy REFUSES to do anything.  He just says that "When Windows updates, sometimes it no longer supports older printers."  Is this the problem?  Do I just need to buy a new printer?

Welcome to the HP support community.

Did you make a copy and check if that prints fine?

If not, Print a print quality diagnostic report

  1. Load Letter or A4, unused, plain white paper into the input tray.

  2. Touch the lower left corner of the control panel four times until Support Menu displays on the control panel, and then touch OK.

    NOTE:

The OK button becomes visible when you access the Support Menu

Figure : Touch lower left corner of the control panel

    1. Lower left corner of control panel

  3. Touch the menu button next to Support in the upper-right corner of the control panel () until Reports Menu displays, and then touch OK.

  4. Touch the button in the upper-right corner of the control panel () until PQ Diagnostic report displays, and then touch OK. The print quality diagnostic report prints.

If that prints fine, this is a driver issue.

Uninstall and reinstall the printer driver to fix the issue.

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again.

Download and install printer full feature driver

Click here to download the driver.

Let me know how it goes.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.
