Recently my Printer Smart Tank 500 All-in-one series has stopped taking yellow color input. It has full ink and I have tried reinstalling the printer and resetting the driver. Is there anything else that I can do to fix this issue?
Thank you, any help is appreciated!

Hi @Nitik_arora,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Smart Tank 500 All-in-One printer is not taking yellow ink despite having a full tank, here are some troubleshooting steps you can try.
Check Ink Flow:
- Ensure that there are no air bubbles in the yellow ink tube. You can gently squeeze the tube to check for any blockages.
- Print a test page to see if any yellow ink is coming through.
Clean the Printhead:
- Use the printer's maintenance menu to initiate a printhead cleaning cycle. This can help remove any clogs that might be blocking the yellow ink.
- You can usually find this option in the printer settings under "Tools" or "Maintenance."
Check Printhead Nozzles:
- If your printer has a printhead alignment option, run that as well. It can sometimes help with ink flow issues.
- You can also try to manually clean the printhead nozzles with a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water or rubbing alcohol. Be careful not to damage the nozzles.
Check Ink Cartridge:
- Even if the ink tank is full, ensure that the ink level sensor is functioning properly. Sometimes, the sensor can misreport levels.
- Remove the yellow ink tank and inspect for any signs of damage or blockage. Reinsert it to ensure a proper connection.
Firmware Update:
- Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes, updates can resolve compatibility issues.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for about 60 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on.
Hopefully, one of these steps will help get your yellow ink working again!
Take care and have a good day.
