Smart tank 515:

After refilling cyan and yellow using original HP GT52, it did not print these colors again. Magenta is still half full as well as black and they are the only once printing.

I have already followed the T/S  from the document -

HP Smart Tank 500 Printers - Color or Black Ink Not Printing, Other Print Quality Issues

but I am trying still to find other possible solutions before moving to the printer head replacement. Printer head icons are not even blinking nor going to the center of the printer so I am assuming that they are still okay.

Hi @Striker_mel,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already done some troubleshooting, but let's go through a few additional steps to see if we can resolve the issue before considering replacing the printhead.

  • Check Ink Levels: Verify that the cyan and yellow ink levels are indeed full after refilling. Sometimes, air bubbles or improper refilling can cause issues with ink flow. Make sure the cartridges are properly seated in their slots.
  • Clean Print Heads Manually: Even if the printhead icons are not blinking, there might be some blockage or dried ink affecting the cyan and yellow nozzles. Most printers have a utility for manual printhead cleaning. You can usually find this option in the printer settings or maintenance menu. Follow the printer's manual for instructions on how to perform a manual printhead cleaning.
  • Run Automated Cleaning Cycle: If your printer has an option for automated printhead cleaning, try running this a couple of times to see if it helps clear any blockages.
  • Check for Firmware Updates: Sometimes, firmware updates can address issues with ink not printing properly. Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model and install them if necessary.
  • Try Different Paper: Sometimes the type or quality of paper can affect printing, especially with inkjet printers. Try printing on a different type of paper to see if that makes a difference.
  • Inspect for Physical Damage: Check the cartridges and printhead for any physical damage or defects that may be obstructing ink flow.

If you've exhausted all these options and still can't get the cyan and yellow ink to print, then it's likely that there's a more serious issue with the printhead or the printer itself, and you may need to consider replacement or repair.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi Alden4,

I've just found time to do the additional T/S. Unfortunately, all has failed. I did manual cleanig of the colourd printerhead but only 1 of 3 colors shows. I already bought the genuine color printhead to replace and it is back to normal colored printing. Truly appreciate all the advise and I can say that Alden4 advise are helpful. May have worked for me if the printhead wasn't faulty in the beggining. Thumbs up to Alden4 and keep up the good work.
