Smart Tank 551 Print and Alignment Problems

I have had my printer for a few years now and have mostly done casual printing with it. Most of the time the print quality hasn’t been the best and has only gotten worst. The black ink is completely striped!!

I have done the “Clean Smear”, all 3 stages of the “Clean Printhead” but still not better! Then I have tried to do the “Align Printhead”. The page prints, I place it on the glass and press “OK”. Then I get get a pop up saying there is an error and to try again!! 

I have done this so many times, I have used more ink and paper in these processes than I have actually printing things for myself!! I’m sure the next step is to replace the Printhead but why won’t it align!? This printer has caused nothing by frustrations with every use!! Please help!!
