I've had a Smart Tank Plus 650 since last August, it's basically fine with two issues

Ink levels

- I can't tell if the Blue Ink is full or not, and when adding the ink it doesn't "gurgle" like the others

- You can't visibly see the Blue ink level, it just blends to the plastic cover. But you can visibly see the levels for the red, yellow and black.

- The printer itself and the HP Smart app both show all tanks full (they always show that). Even though you can visibly see less than full for red, yellow and black.

Print head issues

From the very beginning I had to "re-seat" the print heads 1-2-3 times per month. It's very irritating. But it works fine after I re-seat them. However, 1-2-3 times each month this happens. The printer is at home but used regularly, by 3 members of the household.

Geek Squad had no answers

I took it to Geek Squad today and they checked this that and the other thing but had no answers. It's manageable but the blue ink is problematic.

Hi @WilliamPeck,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing a Blue Ink level issue and a print head issue. Kindly follow the steps below to resolve the issue:

Ink Monitoring

Use a flashlight or backlight to check the blue tank.

Track refill frequency manually since the app isn’t reliable.

Print Head Maintenance

Power off, remove print heads, and gently clean contacts.

Ensure cartridges are firmly locked in place.

Run HP’s built-in diagnostic tool (via HP Smart app → Printer Settings → Tools → Print Quality).

I hope this will help.

Take care and have a good day.
