Product: HP Smart Tank 5107 All-in-One Printer

I set up a new Smart Tank 5107 printer yesterday which instructed me to install the two supplied ink cartridges, after I filled the 4 ink tanks. It's all set up nicely. BUT I thought the printer was cartridge free. So what do they do? And do I need them?

HP Recommended

Those are printheads, not regular ink cartridges, you will never need to replace them as you would replace normal ink cartridge.
