Contacted HP phone help. All I got was a message that said:  This Service may no longer be available for this printer. Well this is the first time I have had to refill the ink. I guess that the printer is only good until the preloaded ink is gone. I don't think that I will be purchasing another HP device, customer service is not this companies priority. Not only did the printer last  long enough to use 1 color of the ink up, I also purchased a pack of new ink to refill the printer. Well played HP, but not again. Even their user manual is suspect. While trying to research how to fix this waste of money, I found that the table of contents of the user manual has the incorrect page numbers on it. What's another $300 for a year of use?

Hi @HTA1,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I’m sorry to hear about your experience with the Smart Tank 6000—it’s incredibly frustrating to encounter issues right after refilling the ink, especially when support feels out of reach. Let’s work through this together to get your printer up and running.

  • After refilling the ink, did the printer display any error messages or notifications related to the ink system?
  • Have you tried performing a manual cleaning or priming process from the printer’s control panel or software?
  • Did you notice any unusual sounds or behavior from the printer after the refill, like air bubbles or a lack of ink flow in the lines?
  • Are you using HP ink cartridges/toner?

Let's try these steps.

Check Ink Tank Levels and Installation

  • Verify that the ink tanks are filled to the correct levels and that the caps are securely tightened.
  • Make sure the ink tanks were refilled using compatible HP Smart Tank ink.

Perform a Printhead Cleaning

  • Access the printer’s menu and navigate to Settings > Maintenance > Clean Printheads (or similar options in HP Smart).
  • Run the cleaning cycle and check if the issue persists. You may need to repeat the process a few times.

Prime the Ink System

  • If the ink lines appear to have air bubbles, the system may need to be primed:
    • Open the printer software or HP Smart and locate the Prime Ink System option.
    • Follow on-screen instructions to purge the lines and restore ink flow.

Update the Printer Firmware

  • Ensure the printer is running the latest firmware:
    • Visit the HP Support website and download any available updates for your printer model.
    • Install the firmware update and restart the printer.

Reset the Printer

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in, turn it on, and try printing again to see if the system resets itself.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
