HP Smart Tank Wireless 455

My yellow ink stopped flowing between print jobs but tank is not empty. Have cleaned several times and tilted ink side up, with no improvement. Do I need new print head or is it a block in the tubing?

Hi @JT04,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Smart Tank 455 is experiencing a blockage or an issue with the ink flow system, which can happen even if the tank isn't empty. Since you've already cleaned the printhead and tilted the ink tank, it's possible that the issue could be a blockage in the tubing or the printhead itself.

Here are a few things you can try:

  • Clean the Ink Tubes: Sometimes, air bubbles or dried ink can clog the tubes, especially if the printer hasn't been used in a while. To clean the ink tubes, you might need to access the printhead assembly and check for any visible obstructions. Be careful not to damage the parts.
  • Perform Another Printhead Cleaning: Since the initial cleaning didn’t resolve the issue, try performing the "Deep Cleaning" process if your printer offers it. This can often clear up stubborn clogs that a standard cleaning doesn't fix. You can access this option through the HP Smart app or the printer's control panel.
  • Check for Leaks or Blockages: Inspect the yellow ink tank and the ink delivery system for any signs of leaks, cracks, or blockages in the tubing that could be preventing the ink from flowing properly.
  • Printhead Replacement: If the printhead is severely clogged and cannot be cleaned, or if the printhead itself is damaged, you might need to replace it. A faulty printhead could cause ink flow issues, even if the tank is full.

I hope this helps.
