My HP Officejet Pro 8610 was low on ink. I removed all the cartridges, thinking I had replacements. Cyan/blue ink spilled over the cartridge & inside the printer. I didn't have replacement cartridges & had to throw out the cyan one. I bought 4 new cartridges (cyan, yellow, magenta & black) & replaced them all. Only cyan isn't working. The printer shows full ink levels for all 4 cartridges. I had the printer clean the printhead 3 times- still no blue print. I cleaned the printerhead with a lint free clith & a little distilled water. No luck. Then, I did a printing test by switching the cyan & yellow cartridges. I thought my yellow would print out as blue if the cyan cartridge was OK & my blue wouldn't look yellow if something was wrong with the printhead. Instead, my yellow still printed yellow & my blue printed pink. Then, I took a thin pin to make sure there was no dried cyan ink blocking the cartridge from printing. Still no blue. What's going on?! Thanks in advance!

@KayC2025, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding HP OfficeJet Pro 8610 ink spillage!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
Run a Printhead Cleaning Again
- Go to Printer Menu > Setup > Printer Maintenance > Clean Printhead and do a "Deep Cleaning" if available.
- Run this 2-3 times, allowing a few minutes between cycles.
Check if Ink is Flowing from Cyan Cartridge
- Remove the cyan cartridge and gently blot the nozzle on a paper towel. You should see a solid cyan ink blot.
- If no ink comes out, try shaking the cartridge gently and reinserting it.
- If still dry, return/exchange it as defective.
Reset the Printer
- Remove all cartridges and unplug the printer from power for 5-10 minutes.
- Plug it back in, reinstall the cartridges, and perform a test print.
Perform a Printhead Alignment
- Go to Printer Menu > Setup > Printer Maintenance > Align Printhead
- After alignment, print a test page to check if cyan is back.
Try a Manual Printhead Soak (If Still No Cyan)
- Remove the printhead if possible.
- Soak it in warm distilled water for 10-15 minutes.
- Dry thoroughly and reinstall it.
Check for Firmware Updates
- Go to HP website and see if there’s a firmware update for your printer.
Replace the Printhead (Last Resort)
- If none of the above work, your cyan nozzle might be damaged, requiring a replacement printhead.
Why Did Yellow Print Pink?
Since your printer uses Cyan + Magenta to create blue, if cyan is missing, it prints pink (pure magenta instead). This confirms cyan ink isn’t reaching the page.
