OfficeJet 8028e notified me that ink levels in all 4 cartridges were running low. I changed all 4 of them when print quality started to degrade. After doing so, device stopped printing black only. Tried cleaning printheads to no avail. Am using all new HP genuine cartridges (obtained as Instant Ink subscriber). Even tried installing a 2nd, new HP black ink cartridge, again to no avail. Printer was functioning fine before I changed the cartridges. It still prints color normally. Am running Windows 11 on desktop PC, attached to printer via WiFi (not hard-wired). Not sure how to proceed. Would appreciate any/all suggestions. Thanks in advance!!

Hi @WVUgrad,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It's unfortunate that you're experiencing issues with your HP OfficeJet 8028e after replacing the ink cartridges. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the problem.
Check Cartridge Installation:
- Ensure that all cartridges are securely and correctly installed. Open the printer cover and reseat each cartridge to make sure they are properly inserted.
Clean Printheads:
- If you haven't already, use the printer's software or menu to run a printhead cleaning cycle. This can help remove any dried ink or debris that may be blocking the black ink.
Align Printheads:
- Perform a printhead alignment through the printer software or menu. This ensures that the printheads are properly aligned, which can affect print quality.
Update Printer Drivers:
- Make sure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your Windows 11 computer. You can visit the HP website to download and install the most up-to-date drivers for your printer model.
Restart Printer and Computer:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a few minutes. Also, restart your computer. Then, plug the printer back in and turn it on. Check if the issue persists.
Check for Firmware Updates:
- Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. You can check for firmware updates on the HP support website and follow the instructions to update if necessary.
Print a Diagnostic Page:
- Most printers have a diagnostic or test page option in the settings. Print a diagnostic page to see if there are any issues with the black ink. This can help identify whether the problem is with the cartridge or the printer itself.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
