Product: HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One Printer

just bought $150 in ink for my HP8610, now I get printhead error. Tried all the quick fixes.  Staples suggested contacting HP to see if there is any way of crediting the ink purchase towards a new printer.  It's difficult to get in contact with HP service.
