Super outdated Photosmart 475 ink or other issue?

Hi, I recently received a new-in-box never-opened Photosmart 475 which is by now extremely outdated (2005) for a photobooth project. It is in perfect condition, turns on, no errors etc and appears to function perfectly except the output is inconsistent - purple with lines, etc no other colors. I'm assuming this is an ink issue as this is likely the original ink at nearly 15 years old, but seeing as the ink is 75+ $ for a cartridge, I wanted to see if it was reasonable to expect that the unit would function well with a new cartridge, or if there is any other age-based failure to be expected despite being new in the box? Are there any manual cleaning procedures or maintenance I should look at?

It's the cartridges, the ink dried inside from old age.
