Hi @HARRY-AT42B,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

Thank you for contacting HP Support. We understand you're experiencing an issue where the supplied ink cartridge is not working with your HP DeskJet 2630 printer on macOS Monterey 12.0. Let’s work through a solution together.

Step 1: Identify the Problem

Please check for any of the following:

  • Error message on printer screen or HP Smart App (e.g., "Cartridge Missing" or "Incompatible Cartridge")
  • Cartridge not recognized, or blinking lights on the printer
  • Mac shows the print job failed due to a hardware supply error

If you see any specific error codes or lights, note them down.

Step 2: Reseat the Ink Cartridges

  1. Power on the printer.
  2. Open the ink cartridge access door.
  3. Gently remove both black and tri-color cartridges.
  4. Inspect for:
    • Protective orange tape is still on the contacts (must be removed)
    • Dirty, damaged, or bent copper contacts
  5. Reinsert both cartridges firmly until they click into place.
  6. Close the access door and wait for initialization.

Step 3: Clean Cartridge Contacts

If the error persists:

  1. Power off the printer and unplug it.
  2. Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.
  3. Gently wipe the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer slot.
  4. Allow to dry completely (5–10 minutes).
  5. Reinstall and power on.

Step 4: Reset the Printer

  1. With the printer turned on, unplug the power cord from the back.
  2. Wait 60 seconds.
  3. Plug the power cord back in and turn the printer on.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
