Product: HP M281cdw
Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Got an error message that says Supply Error with icons for each of the cartridges. I've seen several of similar posts on this topic with only one suggestion for resolution, that didn't work for my printer. This happened after a pushed update. Sounds like HP is trying to make it so only HP cartridges will work in HP printers.

Yeah, its a thing now. 
You should be able to downgrade your printers firmware 

First in the printer :

1. Settings -> Service -> Laserjet Update -> Manage Updates -> Allow Downgrade -> YES
2. Settings -> Service -> Laserjet Update -> Manage Updates -> Check Automatically -> OFF

On the PC:
3. downlolad 20200612 update 
4. Open the update, choose your printer and update the printer
5. Check after updating if the settings in point 1. and 2. are left as you set them.

Just a electronics enthusiast trying to fix everything.
