Why am I getting a Supply system problem error when i changed my printer cartridges. It is the same cartridges I have always gotten and the same printer. Absolutely no changes have been made i just ran out of ink and replaced with a new cartridge.

Hi @GrayElect419,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Experiencing a "Supply system problem" error after replacing cartridges can be frustrating, especially when there haven't been any other changes to the printer setup. Here are a few steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

  • Reinstall Cartridges: Sometimes, cartridges may not be installed correctly. Try removing and reinstalling them carefully, ensuring they are securely seated in their respective slots.
  • Check Cartridge Compatibility: Even if you've always used the same cartridges, it's possible there could be compatibility issues. Ensure that the cartridges you've purchased are compatible with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 model. You can usually find this information on the cartridge packaging or in the printer's user manual.
  • Clean Cartridge Contacts: Over time, dust or debris can accumulate on the cartridge contacts, leading to poor connectivity. Gently wipe the contacts on both the cartridges and inside the printer with a lint-free cloth or cotton swab lightly moistened with distilled water. Be careful not to touch the nozzles or electrical contacts with your fingers.
  • Restart Printer: Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve various printer issues. Turn off your printer, wait for a few minutes, and then turn it back on. This can reset the printer's internal components and clear any temporary glitches.
  • Update Firmware: Check if there are any firmware updates available for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710. Sometimes, firmware updates include fixes for compatibility issues and other bugs. You can usually update the firmware through the printer's control panel or HP's official website.

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and hopefully resolve the "Supply system problem" error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
