Hi @Chippie430,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

1. Check Cartridge Installation

  • Turn on the Printer:
    • Ensure the printer is powered on.
  • Open the Cartridge Access Door:
    • Open the ink cartridge access door and wait for the carriage to stop moving.
  • Check Cartridges:
    • Verify that the cartridges are properly installed in their respective slots. Remove and reinsert them to ensure they make a good contact.
    • Make sure you are using genuine HP cartridges compatible with your printer.

2. Clean Cartridge Contacts

  • Remove Cartridges:
    • Remove the cartridges from the printer.
  • Clean Contacts:
    • Using a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water, gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and in the carriage.
  • Reinsert Cartridges:
    • Allow the contacts to dry completely, then reinsert the cartridges into the printer.

3. Reset the Printer

  • Power Off:
    • Turn off the printer by pressing the power button.
  • Unplug:
    • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer and from the wall outlet.
  • Wait:
    • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect:
    • Reconnect the power cord to the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Power On:
    • Turn the printer back on.

4. Update Printer Firmware

  • Go to the HP Support website, search for your printer model, and check for any available firmware updates.
  • Follow the instructions to download and install the firmware update.

5. Check for Obstructions

Sometimes obstructions or debris inside the printer can cause issues. Make sure there are no paper jams, pieces of torn paper, or foreign objects inside the printer.

6. Perform a Printer Reset

  • Factory Reset:
    • Depending on your printer model, there may be an option in the settings menu to perform a factory reset. Refer to the user manual or HP Support website for instructions on performing a factory reset.

I hope this helps.
