Hi @Louie0401,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are getting the "Supply System Problem" error in the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710, particularly when specific cartridges like "M" (magenta) and "Y" (yellow) are highlighted, can be due to a few issues, despite having replaced the cartridges with original HP ones. Here are several troubleshooting steps to try:

1. Check for Cartridge Authenticity

Ensure that the new cartridges you installed are indeed genuine HP cartridges. Sometimes, third-party cartridges or refilled cartridges can cause issues.

2. Reinstall the Cartridges

Remove the magenta and yellow cartridges and reinstall them carefully:

  1. Turn on the printer.
  2. Open the ink cartridge access door.
  3. Remove the magenta and yellow cartridges.
  4. Check for any protective tapes that might not have been removed from the cartridges.
  5. Reinsert the cartridges firmly into their slots.

3. Clean the Contacts

Sometimes, the contacts between the cartridge and the printer can get dirty or blocked:

  1. Turn on the printer and open the ink cartridge access door.
  2. Remove the magenta and yellow cartridges.
  3. Use a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water to gently clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and in the printer.
  4. Allow the contacts to dry for about 10 minutes.
  5. Reinstall the cartridges.

4. Reset the Printer

Perform a more thorough reset of the printer:

  1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  3. Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  4. Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  5. Reconnect the power cord to the printer and turn it on.

5. Update Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date. Sometimes, firmware updates fix bugs related to ink cartridges:

  1. Go to the HP Support website and download the latest firmware for the OfficeJet Pro 8710.
  2. Follow the instructions to install the firmware update.

6. Check for Obstructions

Inspect the area around the cartridge slots for any paper debris or foreign objects that might be causing a connection issue.

7. Use the Printer's Built-in Diagnostic Tools

Your printer may have built-in diagnostic tools that can help identify and possibly fix the issue:

  1. On the printer's control panel, navigate to the "Settings" or "Tools" menu.
  2. Look for an option related to diagnostics or troubleshooting and follow the on-screen instructions.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
