Hi @Agomez105,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printer's supply system error!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

The "Supply System Problem" error on your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 usually indicates an issue with the ink cartridges or printhead. Try these troubleshooting steps to fix it:

Restart the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cable from both the printer and the wall.
  3. Wait 2-3 minutes, then plug it back in and turn on the printer.
  4. Check if the error is gone.

Remove & Reinstall Ink Cartridges

  1. Open the front cover and remove all ink cartridges.
  2. Check for leaks or damage on the cartridges.
  3. Reinstall them properly, making sure they click into place.
  4. Close the cover and check if the error is cleared.
⚠ If using refilled or third-party cartridges, try genuine HP cartridges.

Clean the Printhead

  1. On the printer touchscreen, go to:
    • Setup → Printer Maintenance → Clean Printhead
  2. The printer will clean itself and print a test page.

If cleaning via touchscreen doesn’t work, clean manually:

  1. Remove the cartridges and locate the printhead assembly.
  2. Gently clean the copper-colored contacts using a lint-free cloth dampened with distilled water.
  3. Let it dry, then reinstall the printhead and cartridges.

Reset the Printer from the Touchscreen

  1. On the printer touchscreen, go to:
    • Setup → Printer Maintenance → Restore Defaults
  2. Select Restore Factory Defaults and confirm.
  3. Restart the printer and check if the error disappears.

  2. Press & hold the Wi-Fi (📶) and Power (🔘) buttons together for 10-15 seconds.
  3. Release the buttons when the printer turns back on.
