Hi, I purchased a HP Printer Envy 4520 in the USA, but I live in Brazil now and cannot use the cartridges I bought here. They say they are incompatible, even though they shouldn't be.

People here apparently solved their problems with a Region Reset, but how should I proceed in order to do that?

Thanks in advance,

Lucas

You will need to Contact HP to request a "Regionalization Reset". There should not be any charge for this, it is covered as part of the cartridge warranty. You will need to have access to your computer and printer while on the line with HP. You will also need to have a set of cartridges for the new region, once the reset is complete cartridges from the original region will no longer work.

Hi @LucasH948,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you. Please note that HP Printers use different ink cartridges in different regions, and to use the ink cartridges sold in the current region, we need to change the region settings on the printer.

I request you to please get back to me with the following information, so that I can help you change the region settings on the printer.

Do you still have the ink cartridges for both regions

Do you have a printer USB cable?

Which OS is on the PC? Is it Windows or Mac?

Do you have the printer's full feature software and drivers installed on your PC?

Hope this helps!

Thanks!

Hello @VikramTheGreat, thank you for offering support in this case. Below I answer your questions, which I believe are what we need to perform this region reset.

1) Do you still have the ink cartridges for both regions

Yes. I still have one of my former region and two (color+black) of the new region.

2) Do you have a printer USB cable?

        Yes I do.

3) Which OS is on the PC? Is it Windows or Mac?

        It is Windows 11.

4) Do you have the printer's full feature software and drivers installed on your PC?

I have HP Smart software installed. I believe I have the drivers installed as well.

Best regards

Hi @LucasH948,

Step 2:

1) Launch the printer software from the desktop icon, from the Start menu, click Start, All Programs, HP, the Product Name, and then the Product Name again.

2) Double-click the Estimated Ink Levels icon in the printer software. The Estimated Ink Levels window opens.

3) Press and hold the CTRL and SHIFT keys, and then right-click anywhere in the Estimated Ink Levels window, except for a button. The Set New Region window opens.

4) If the Set New Region window fails to open, right-click to the right and left of the Estimated Ink Levels window.

5) Take a screenshot of the screen and send it to me.

Take care and have an amazing day!
