HP DesignJet T125 24-in Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi,

I work for a local council in Scotland. We have an HP DesignJet T125 24-in inkjet printer which has thrown up an error. The sequence of events is this:

  • Printer is standalone and is used via a USB cable.
  • Printer was turned on this morning to print something
  • Printer asked for a new black (K) cartridge
  • A new genuine HP 80ml black ink cartridge was installed
  • Printer went through the normal motions after a cartridge was installed and displayed the "genuine HP cartridge installed" message
  • Went to print and could hear the sound of air as the new cartridge was pierced, printer made a number of sounds and then displayed the message "There is a problem with the printer or ink system. Turn printer off, then on. If problem persists, contact HP"
  • Printer turned off, unplugged from electricity supply, left 10 minutes and plugged in and restarted. Message continues to be displayed.
  • Followed the instructions here: https://support.hp.com/sg-en/document/c04525354 regarding removing the print head and reinstalling.
  • When the print head was removed, it was spilling black ink all over the place. I gently dried the majority of the ink off using a paper towel before reinstalling the print head.
  • Error message persists,
  • No fault codes are displayed.

I suspect that the print head may now be faulty due to the black ink being spilled everywhere, but can anyone confirm if my suspicion is correct? Is there anything else I can try before I go through the laborious task of getting a new one ordered via our stationery suppliers?

Many Thanks,

Chris

It's the printhead 99%. You need to check the service station on the right side inside the printer if it's full of waste ink replace it too.
