Hello,

I have recently moved from HK to UK with my HP Tango X printer. I bought HP 804XL ink in HK but I can’t find this in UK, and I cannot register the instant ink with my printer in UK.  I found online and in other forums that my printer has to change the region code to use Europe edition ink. Can anyone help me to change the region code so that my newly bought Tango X can be used? Thank you very much!

Hi @Blues127,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to assist you.

I see that you are looking for help with a regional reset on your Printer.

To perform a printer region reset you need to meet the following conditions:

Which country did you move from and to?

Do you have the ink cartridges for both regions?

Do you have a printer USB cable or is it connected wirelessly?

Do you have the printer full feature software or the HP smart app and drivers installed on your PC?

If you meet the above conditions then let me know the following details:

1) The operating system of your PC, is it Windows or Mac?

2) Confirm the printer model.

Note: Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

Take care and have a great day ahead!

Hi @Irwin6,

Thank you very much for your reply.
I moved from Hong Kong to UK.
I have the ink cartridges from HK (HP 84XL)

my printer is connected to WiFi and can be used in UK with the ink cartridges from HK.
HP smart app was installed in my MacBook.
The operating system is Mac and printer model is HP Tango X (serial number TH125641HX).

Hi @Blues127,

Thank you for sharing the above information.

Please install the previous country ink cartridges and perform the steps given below.

If your computer is connected to the printer with a USB or wireless connection, you can open the Set New Regions window with HP Smart by following these steps.

1) Open the HP Smart app.

2) On the Home screen, click gear icon.

3) Click About, press and hold Ctrl + Shift, and then right-click on the HP Smart logo.

The region reset screen opens.

4) Take a screenshot of the screen and send it to me in a private message.

Thank you @Irwin6,

thanks a lot for your reply. Before I change the region, may I know if I can still use my previous country ink cartridge after the region code changed?  The reason I ask is because I just started my new set of pervious ink cartridge, should able to last for this month. So should I change the region code now or just make the change when my previous country ink cartridge nearly finished?

thanks a lot and have a good day.

Hi @Blues127,

Once the regional reset completes you wont be able to use the previous country ink cartridges and you will have to use the ink purchased in the new country.

If the ink cartridges are new, request you to continue using the printer until the ink cartridges are going low on ink to perform a regional reset.
