HP 3055A
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I try to find information about my HP 3055A printer: is it possible to print (replace) my black cartridge only? Should I remove the colour cartridges? or leave them in? This is a home use printer for mainly text documents only, however my daughter uses occasionally full colour, but is not essential. Would like to use this printer for back/white (grey) only. Thanks

Your printer model supports single cartridge mode, that means it can print with one cartridge installed.

If you set your printer driver to print in B&W then the ink inside color ink cartridge is not used for printing, if you set your printer driver to print in grayscale the color cartridge is used too.

Some small amount of ink in both ink cartridges ( if installed) are used for maintenance, printhead cleaning after printer is powered ON or printhead cleaning started by user.
