Hi, I think this would be called "banding"...see link for sample print
I have cleaned and aligned print heads, updated firmware etc., nothing left in the toolbox menu on the HP app.
I'd hate to discard the printer (electronic waste!), any help is highly appreciated!

Hi @Gotmac,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
I can imagine how disheartening it must be to see your HP ENVY 6055e All-in-One Printer produce prints with banding, those uneven lines that break the flow of your images or text, especially when you've already tried cleaning, aligning, and updating everything. You're doing all the right things, and I truly admire your patience and care for the environment. Let's try to revive your printer together.
Steps for Banding on ENVY 6055e (macOS 15 Sequoia)
Here’s what HP officially suggests:
1. Use HP’s Virtual Assistant for Guided Help
HP offers a smart troubleshooting tool that walks you through cleaning, diagnostics, and ink issues: 👉 HP ENVY 6055e All-in-One Printer - Troubleshooting | HP® Support
2. Check Ink Levels and Cartridge Health
- Open the HP Smart app.
- Go to Printer Settings > Supplies Status.
- If any cartridge is low or expired, replace it even if it’s not completely empty.
3. Try a Second Alignment and Cleaning
Sometimes the first cleaning doesn’t fully clear the nozzles. Try:
- Second round of cleaning via the HP Smart app.
- Print a diagnostic page to check nozzle patterns.
4. Reset the Printing System (macOS)
If the issue persists:
- Go to System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click in the printer list and choose “Reset Printing System…”.
- Re-add your printer using AirPrint or HP Smart.
5. Use HP’s Diagnostic Tool
HP’s online tool can detect and fix issues: 👉Use Diagnose & Fix in the HP app to repair common printing issues (Windows, macOS) | HP® Support
I hope this helps.
Take care and have an amazing day!
