I have an HP ENVY 6055 all in one printer, and ever since I changed the ink cartridges, the text that prints out is in Outline (text letters aren't filled in.) This happens when printing ANY & ALL documents. Like a resume or a shipping label.
BUT, if I take a screenshot of, for example, a shipping label that I need to print .. and then click print on the screenshot... The text prints normal.
Anyone have any suggestions why my photos print correctly but my document printing is faded and only in Outline?

Hi @MonicaArter,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like there may be an issue with the printer settings or the way your printer is interpreting the documents. Here are some suggestions to troubleshoot the problem.
Check Printer Settings:
- Open the print dialog when you print a document and check if there are any settings related to draft mode, outline printing, or grayscale. Make sure that you're printing in normal quality or best quality.
Update Printer Drivers:
- Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed for your HP ENVY 6055. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.
Check the Document Format:
- Sometimes, specific document formats can cause issues. If you're printing from a specific application (like Microsoft Word or Adobe Reader), try exporting the document to PDF and then printing it.
Print from a Different Application:
- Try printing the same document from a different application to see if the issue persists. For example, if you’re using Microsoft Word, try printing it from Google Docs or Adobe Acrobat.
Run Printer Troubleshooter:
- Use the built-in printer troubleshooter in Windows. Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners, select your printer, and click on Manage > Troubleshoot.
Check Ink Levels:
- Even though you changed the cartridges, it's worth checking the ink levels to ensure that the new cartridges are functioning correctly. Sometimes, new cartridges can be faulty.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about a minute, plug it back in, and turn it on.
Reinstall the Printer:
- Remove the printer from your computer and reinstall it. This can resolve any software conflicts that might be causing the issue.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
