I am having a print quality issue with my HP printer. Half side of the printed page is blurry or faded, while the other half looks normal. I have already replaced the toner and the imaging drum, but the problem still persists. What should I do next

Hi @Amebazz,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Paper Specifications and Alignment

Paper Specifications:

  • Verify that the paper being used meets the printer's specifications. Ensure that it is compatible with your printer model.

Properly Load Paper:

  • Ensure that the paper is properly aligned and loaded correctly in the input tray. Misaligned paper can cause print quality issues.

Clean the Printer

  • Clean the Inside of the Printer:
    • Dust and toner particles can accumulate inside the printer and affect print quality. Follow the steps below to clean your printer:
      1. Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
      2. Open the printer's access door and gently remove the toner cartridge(s) and imaging drum.
      3. Use a lint-free cloth lightly dampened with water to clean the interior components of the printer. Be careful not to touch the imaging drum surface.
      4. Reinstall the toner cartridges and imaging drum, close the access door, plug the printer back in, and turn it on.

Print Quality Troubleshooting Steps

Print a Diagnostic Page:

  • Print a test or diagnostic page to check if the issue persists on a standalone print job:
    1. Go to the printer's control panel.
    2. Navigate to Menu > Reports > Configuration Report and print it.
    3. Review the printed report for consistent quality issues.

Run the Print Quality Diagnostics:

  • Use the printer's diagnostic tools available through the HP Smart App or HP Printer Assistant software to run a print quality diagnostic:
    1. Open the HP Smart App or HP Printer Assistant on your computer.
    2. Locate the Print Quality Diagnostic tool and follow the on-screen instructions.

Adjust Print Density Settings

  • Adjust Print Density:
    • Uneven print density can cause one side of the page to appear faded. Adjust the print density settings as follows:
      1. Access the printer settings through the HP Smart App or the printer’s embedded web server (EWS).
      2. Navigate to Print Settings > Print Density and make adjustments to balance the print output.

I hope this helps.
