I installed the new colour cartridges that were sent to me. The yellow cartridge send an error message “there is a problem with the supply system” and now I can’t print. 
I’ve tried taking the cartridge out and putting it back in. Turned the printer off then on. Nothing…

If your HP printer is showing “There is a problem with the supply system” after installing a new yellow cartridge, here’s what you can do to fix the issue.
 

Steps to Fix Supply System Error

Step 1: Power Reset the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from both the printer and the wall.
  3. Wait 60 seconds.
  4. Plug it back in and turn the printer on.

This clears temporary memory and resets the ink system.

 

Step 2: Remove and Reinsert All Cartridges

  1. Open the cartridge access door.
  2. Remove all cartridges, not just the yellow one.
  3. Gently clean the copper contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth slightly dampened with distilled water.
  4. Reinsert the cartridges firmly and close the door.

 

Step 3: Check for Cartridge Compatibility

  • Make sure the yellow cartridge is:
    • Genuine HP
    • Correct model for your printer (e.g., HP 902 or HP 952, depending on your printer)
    • Not expired or damaged

If HP Instant Ink sent the wrong cartridge, they should replace it free of charge.

 

Step 4: Update Printer Firmware

  • Go to the HP support page for your printer model.
  • Download and install the latest firmware:
