Hi @gquint1,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

The "There's a problem with the supply system" error message on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8725 All-in-One Printer usually points to an issue with the ink cartridges or the ink supply system itself. Here's a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on to see if the error persists.

Check Ink Cartridges

  • Open the printer's cartridge access door.
  • Ensure the cartridges are correctly seated and locked in place.
  • Remove each cartridge and inspect it for any damage, leaks, or blockages.
  • Gently clean the copper contacts on the cartridges with a lint-free cloth slightly moistened with water.
  • Reinsert the cartridges, making sure they click into place.

Use Genuine HP Cartridges

  • Verify that you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. Non-HP or refilled cartridges can sometimes cause supply system errors.
  • If you're using non-HP cartridges, try replacing them with original HP cartridges.

Check for Blockages in the Ink Supply System

  • Ensure there are no obstructions or dried ink in the cartridge or printhead area.
  • Clean the printhead nozzles using the printer's built-in cleaning tool (accessible via the printer's control panel).

Update Printer Firmware

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer. Sometimes, updating the firmware can resolve supply system errors.
  • You can download updates from the HP Support website.

Reset the Printer

  • Perform a semi-full reset of the printer:
    • Disconnect the printer from power while it is on.
    • Hold down the power button for 30 seconds, then release it.
    • Reconnect the printer to the power supply and turn it back on.

Perform a Printhead Cleaning/Alignment

  • From the printer's control panel, navigate to SetupToolsClean Printhead. Follow the instructions to clean the printhead and resolve any ink flow issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
