Hi @EddyGan,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
When your HP ENVY 6452e All-In-One Printer displays a "Tray not closed" message even after you have confirmed it is closed properly, there could be several potential causes.
- Obstruction or Debris: There might be something blocking the tray from fully closing or being detected as closed. Check for any paper, debris, or other obstructions inside the tray area.
- Incorrectly Loaded Paper: If the paper is not loaded correctly, it might prevent the tray from closing properly. Ensure the paper is loaded correctly, lying flat, and not overfilled.
- Sensor Issue: The printer has sensors that detect whether the tray is closed. If these sensors are misaligned or malfunctioning, they might not detect the tray as closed.
- Firmware/Software Issue: There might be a firmware or software issue causing the error. Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can check for updates via the HP Smart app or the HP website.
Here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue:
Power Cycle the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug it back in and turn it on.
Check and Reload the Paper Tray:
- Remove the paper tray completely.
- Check for any obstructions or debris.
- Reload the paper correctly, ensuring it lies flat and does not exceed the fill line.
- Reinsert the tray firmly until it clicks into place.
Check the Tray Sensor:
- Open the tray and look for the sensor mechanism. This is usually a small lever or switch that gets triggered when the tray is closed.
- Make sure the sensor is not stuck or damaged.
Update Firmware:
- Ensure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can do this through the HP Smart app or the HP website by downloading the latest firmware for your printer model.
Reset the Printer:
- Sometimes a reset can resolve software glitches. Refer to the printer manual or the HP website for instructions on performing a reset for your specific model.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
