Hello @Terry462, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP envy 6555e printer.

We appreciate the opportunity to assist you and are glad we could help work toward a resolution. We hope our support has been valuable.

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please try a few troubleshooting steps provided below so that I can assist you further?

  1. Place the alignment page correctly
Put the alignment page face down on the scanner glass. On similar HP Envy models, HP instructs placing it on the right-front corner of the glass, aligned to the marks on the printer.
  2. Close the scanner lid fully
Make sure the lid is completely closed before starting the scan.
  3. Start the alignment from the printer
If your printer menu has alignment tools, open:
Menu/Settings > Tools or Troubleshooting > Print Quality > Printer Alignment > Start
  4. Try from HP Smart
Open HP Smart > Printer Settings > Tools > Print Quality Tools > Printer Alignment > Start.
  5. Remove anything blocking the scanner
Remove any paper from the scanner glass or document feeder area, then close the lid again.
  6. Check the scanner glass
Look for visible damage or anything covering the glass.

Take care and have an amazing day!
