HP 8210

1) How do I turn off ink monitoring so I stop getting low ink warnings?

2) Where is a good spot where I can  drill a hole in my cartridge to refill? My cartridges are Genuine HP product by the way, but it's getting too costly to buy. I am refilling with genuine HP ink bottles.

1. It can't be done.

2. Drill the hole on the top front side of the cartridge.

Hi,

Thanks for the response. In response to #1, I see a thing on my printer that says "Turn off Anonymous Chip Data" on my printer, which is an older model. Perhaps the steps below work on the 8210 to disable counting?

The printer uses the NPP (number of pages printed) to calculate how much ink left in the cartridge. Therefore, if you turn this anonymous usage off, the printer won't know how much ink you have and should let you print forever. We call this "gray chip" because the ink monitor will be grayed out.

Steps to Disable Chip Info for Officejet Pro

  1. 1. From the LCD display, go to SETUP
  2. 2. Select Preferences
  3. 3. Select Store Anonymous Usage Information*
  4. 4. Turn it off.
  5. 5. If you cannot find the "Store Anonymous Usage Information" selection, it is turned off already. You can reset the printer to factory setting and it should reappear.

For #2, could you include a graphic of some sort so I can have a good reference for the best place for drilling? Anything important I need to know before I drill to make sure it works?

Thanks!
