Hi @brianash,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To turn off automatic firmware updates on your HP ENVY 6055e All-in-One Printer, follow these steps.

Using the Printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS)

  1. Make sure your printer is connected to your network.
  2. Find the IP address of your printer:
    • Print a Network Configuration Page by pressing and holding the Wi-Fi and Information buttons until a report prints.
    • Look for the IPv4 address under the network settings.
  3. Open a web browser on your computer and enter the printer’s IP address in the address bar.
  4. Click on Settings or Printer Updates (may vary by model).
  5. Look for Printer Update Settings or Web Services and disable automatic updates.
  6. Click Apply or Save to confirm.

Using the HP Smart App

  1. Open the HP Smart App on your computer or mobile device.
  2. Click on your Printer and go to Advanced Settings (this opens the EWS).
  3. Navigate to Printer Update Settings or Web Services.
  4. Disable automatic updates.
  5. Click Save or Apply.

Using the Printer’s Control Panel (If Available)

  1. Tap the Wi-Fi or Setup icon on the printer’s touchscreen (if applicable).
  2. Navigate to Printer Maintenance or Preferences.
  3. Look for Printer Updates or Firmware Updates.
  4. Disable automatic updates.

Note:

  • Some firmware updates are pushed automatically if HP+ or Instant Ink is enabled. If you're subscribed to these services, you may not be able to disable updates completely.
  • Blocking HP update servers via your router settings can also prevent firmware updates, but this is an advanced method.

After disabling updates, your refurbished cartridge should work without issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
