My HP OfficeJet 6950 printer no longer prints out black ink but still prints color just fine. The app and the printer shows that the black ink supply level is full. However, whenever I print out the test pages only color ink appears.
I tried:
1)rebooting printer
2)purchasing new black ink 902XL
3)clean print head (two levels)
4)ensure firmware is up to date
5)manually tried cleaning the area and sprayed some WD-40
Since none of these options have worked, I pretty much can no longer use my printer. So my last option is to do a factory reset to default settings. But it says I may lose “Web Services” account so I wanted to first ask support here in case I lose this option.
What can I do now?

@jc841, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Black Ink Printing Issues for HP OfficeJet 6950!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
If your HP OfficeJet 6950 is printing color but not black ink, despite showing a full black ink level, here are some recommended steps to resolve the issue:
Step 1: Use Genuine HP Ink Cartridges
Ensure that you are using genuine HP ink cartridges. HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP or refilled cartridges.
Step 2: Verify Ink Cartridge Venting
Check the ink cartridge vent to ensure it is not clogged. Using a pin or a paper clip, gently remove any debris from the vent on top of the cartridge. This can help restore the flow of ink.
Step 3: Perform Printhead Cleaning
Use the automatic tool from the printer control panel to clean the printhead. If the print quality is unacceptable after cleaning, repeat the process up to three times. Allow 30 minutes between each cleaning cycle if necessary.
Step 4: Check Print Settings
Ensure the print settings are correctly configured, particularly if you are attempting a specific project. Verify that you are set to print in black and white or grayscale if needed.
Step 5: Align the Printhead
Use the automated tool to align the ink cartridge. This can sometimes resolve printing alignment issues.
Hope this helps!
Take care, and have an amazing day!

Hey Zoey,
I tried everything you mentioned here already. On top of that I even tried manually cleaning the printhead with WD-40 and buying new cartridge. I can't tell if this is a hardware or software issue. The only other solution I can think of is a factory reset before throwing this away. But it says I may lose “Web Services” account so I wanted to first ask support here in case I lose this option.
Any advice?
