Hi @yodasan,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've already taken some troubleshooting steps to address the issue of your HP Deskjet 1510 All-in-One Printer not printing in color and only producing faded black-and-white prints. Since you've tried aligning ink cartridges, cleaning ink cartridges, and cleaning the printer, let's explore some additional steps you can take:

Check Printer Settings: Sometimes, the printer settings may affect the color output. Make sure that the printer settings on your computer are configured to print in color. Here's how you can do it:

  • Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your HP Deskjet 1510 printer and select Printing Preferences.
  • Look for an option related to color settings. Ensure that it's set to print in color rather than grayscale.

Printer Driver Update: Ensure that your printer driver is up to date. An outdated driver may cause printing issues. Visit the HP website to download and install the latest driver for your printer model compatible with Windows 10 (64-Bit). Software and Drivers for HP Deskjet 1510 All-in-One Printer series

Test on Another Device: Try printing a color document from another device if possible. This will help determine if the issue is specific to your computer or if it's a printer-related problem.

Check Ink Cartridges: Even if the ink levels are nearly full, there might be an issue with the color ink cartridge. Remove the color ink cartridge, shake it gently, and reinstall it. Sometimes, ink cartridges can dry out or become clogged, leading to poor color quality.

Calibration: Some printers have a calibration option that allows you to adjust color settings and improve print quality. Check your printer's user manual to see if there's a calibration feature available and try calibrating the printer.

Hardware Issues: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, there may be a hardware problem with the printer.

I hope this helps.

Yes, I did that before...in the 'printing preferences' advanced---under Document Options, it says 'Print in Greyscale' with a drop down box options of 'Off', 'High Quality Greyscale', and 'black ink only'. There is no color option. When using the 'Off' option, it printed in the same faded B&W as before.

I have the latest drivers, and don't have the option of testing on another device.

I don't see any 'calibration' option, only 'Align', 'Clean Ink', and 'Clean Printer', which I have done all 3.

This printer used to be able to print in color, some switch/setting must have gotten turned off, or on, sometime in the past.
