For some inexplicable reason my 9018e print driver disappeared, so I began the setup once again. I read the disclaimer regarding HP+ prior to setting up the 9018e printer; however, I thought that HP ink cartridges were recommended. Not until afterwards, did I realize that HP cartridges are mandatory for the printer to work. I currently own a second HP printer (OfficeJet Pro 8720) and have owned others in the past. Never, have I been forced to use only HP cartridges before. I consider this an unsavory business practice that I have never seen with other Brother and Epson printers that I own.
I wish to remove the association with HP+ so that I am free to utilize any ink cartridges. Can I remove this association? If not, I will immediately purchase another brand's printer, and never purchase an HP product (laptop, printer, etc.) in the future. Thank you for your assistance.

Welcome to the HP Community --
I am sorry for the situation.

What can we - the Community - do?
I will submit your concerns to our Moderator team.
Should there be an answer, look for a message here before the agent uses other means to contact you.
What else can we do?
We can provide the information we have on the subject(s).
None of this information is meant as a surprise -- all is provided as FYI.
Also included:
Information AND contact help for both HP+ and for Instant Ink Support.
====================================
Important
A subscription to Instant Ink is optional - always.
HP+ is a auxiliary (and also optional) contact that extends the original manufactures Warranty.
True >> With a signed HP+ contract, there is an obligation to always use HP genuine cartridges -- this is NOT a mandatory Ink subscription requirement.
What?
An Instant Ink subscription is not part of HP+ nor is an Instant Ink subscription required to use the printer.
One possible problem for you: Once the HP+ contract is signed and accepted for the Warranty extension, I do not know if there is a way to break the contract. You need to speak with HP+ support for any legal information.
Second -- This printer is protected by a non-removable requirement for HP chipped cartridges. The protection is called Dynamic Security. This means you cannot use "just any ink" in the printer.
Reference - Your printer is a member of the OfficeJet Pro 9010e series
Data sheet - HP OfficeJet Pro 9010e All-in-One Printer
The requirement for HP chipped cartridges is not related to Instant Ink.
An explanation of Dynamic Security here:
Which Ink Can be Used in the Printer?

HP Printers - Dynamic Security Enabled Printers
Excerpted from the document
“HP printers are designed to work with original HP ink and toner cartridges. As is standard in the printing business, HP printers use a process to authenticate cartridges. In certain HP printers, this authentication process includes dynamic security measures. Dynamic security relies on the printer’s ability to communicate with the security chips or electronic circuitry on the cartridges. HP uses dynamic security measures to protect the quality of our customer experience, maintain the integrity of our printing systems, and protect our intellectual property.”
Dynamic security
Dynamic security equipped printers are intended to work only with cartridges that have new or reused HP chips or electronic circuitry. The printers use the dynamic security measures to block cartridges using non-HP chips or modified or non-HP electronic circuitry. * Original HP cartridges that retain the original HP chip or electronic circuitry enable the refilling, reuse, or remanufacturing of the cartridge and are unaffected by dynamic security.

Hi @HelP0517 ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand your frustration with the limitations imposed by HP+ on your OfficeJet Pro 9018e printer. While I can provide on removing software, it's important to note that modifying or uninstalling certain software components may impact the functionality of the printer or other features.
To uninstall the HP+ software from your OfficeJet Pro 9018e on a Windows 10 system, you can follow these steps:
Open Control Panel:
- Press the Windows key and type "Control Panel."
- Open the Control Panel from the search results.
Navigate to Programs and Features:
- Click on "Programs" or "Programs and Features" in the Control Panel.
Locate HP+ Software:
- Look for the HP+ software associated with your printer in the list of installed programs.
Uninstall HP+ Software:
- Select the HP+ software and click on the "Uninstall" or "Change/Uninstall" option.
Follow the Uninstallation Wizard:
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the uninstallation process.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you Gaya1239 for your assistance. Unfortunately, your solution didn't solve my problem as there are no HP+ programs to uninstall. Perhaps, this is because I never completed the setup. As soon as I realized that I was forced into using HP cartridges, I abandoned the setup.
Other research indicates that this process cannot be reversed once you select the HP+ option. Has the reversal worked for you? Thanks.

Thanks to Dragon-Fur for responding. I am not interested in Instant Ink and realize that it is optional. I am also not interested in hearing the benefits of HP+. What I am interested in, is determining how I can remove my printer from HP+. I am getting mixed messages as you state that HP+ cannot be removed and others state that it can be removed. If I can remove HP+, I will keep my HP printer. If not, I will purchase another non-HP printer, and my association with HP and all of its products will be at an end. What is the definitive answer regarding whether or not HP+ can be removed?

You are welcome.
There is perhaps some confusion about the terms.
You are perhaps demanding from us information we do not have OR perhaps asking a question for which we are missing the context of what you are trying to say.
Maybe you are asking something obvious to everyone except me.
It happens. I might be missing your point.
Remember that I speak only for myself -- I don't work for HP nor do I speak for what HP knows.
Reprint --- HP+
Perhaps you are asking about having accepted an HP+ extended warranty contract -- this is a deliberate action and you'd likely recognize the information I provided in my first post on the subject --
If you are asking about HP+ legal terms or contract, you need to talk to the HP+ Support team.
Why?
Signing a contract of this (or any) kind entails legal responsibilities for both parties - you and the owner of the contract -- HP.
We cannot provide legal advice here in the Community -- We are a user forum, we are not HP Tech Support.

What else?
You might be referring to a different issue, that is, anything that is not relevant or related to having signed a legal HP+ contract,
If that is true, then sure -- you can remove evidence of the software and application installations related to the printer. Anything, in fact, related to the printer operation that is embedded in the Windows Operating System can be removed.
What if it's not software?
The HP+ contract includes a stipulation that you will always use HP genuine cartridges -- not HP chipped refilled cartridges, real, new-each-time, HP ink cartridges.
The HP branded printer hardware, your HP OfficeJet Pro 9018e comes with a irremovable legal requirement that you use HP chipped cartridges, that is, ink cartridges that are made and sold by HP. In cases where the printer will tolerate the action, those cartridges, once depleted, can be "refilled". Will it work? Sure - might. It is not prohibited and the legal agreement supports the process that you can certainly try it.
The name of the policy that explains and enforces the requirement: Dynamic Security

True - there is no legal way to bypass the HP chipped ink cartridge requirement.
True -- Beyond providing the information we are NOT able (or interested) to discuss what is legal, what is wanted, or what anyone thinks about the limitation.

Dragon Opinion
I believe you should do what is best for your situation --
While I do not suggest contacting HP Tech Support for the purpose of demanding changes to policy, you can certainly contact the Support team and ask what you will..
The agents can try to understand what you are asking and perhaps guide you on "next steps".

What if?
The 9018e is a nice printer, near "top of line", in fact.
If this is not the printer for you, you should replace it.
Consider giving the printer to someone who is willing to use the required ink type.
and / or
If you have to option, consider giving the printer to a school or charity.
At the very least, dispose of the printer safely and in accordance to your local laws.
